Support A Reasonable Food Policy in Cedar Grove Schools

As many of you are aware by now, the administrators of the North and South End Elementary Schools have revised school policy for the 2012-2013 school year to completely ban all food from student in-class birthday celebrations.
While we are all in favor of guidelines and earnest efforts to support healthy nutrition and improved well-being for students, we are opposed to mandates and restrictions that will do little - if anything - to solve the problems they intend to address.
Serving treats of the children's choosing during in-class birthday celebrations is a long standing tradition that is supported by a majority of Cedar Grove School District parents and students, and there is no justifiable reason to prohibit this activity.
We support a reasonable food policy in Cedar Grove schools, and we would like the administration to reconsider and repeal the "NON-FOOD" birthday policy.
