We the undersigned residents of various Kauai communities are pleading for a sentence for Mr. Kyle Matsumoto which is commensurate with the significant disruption, fear, and cost he has inflicted on us. He has a long and checkered history of arrests and convictions and an apparent disregard for the law. It's time to get him off the streets on a longer term basis. We've had enough of him.

Worthy of note is that in 2012, detailed records were kept and Princeville residents experienced a burglary rate twice normal (nearly 8 per month) from January through August. Then Mr. Matsumoto and 3 others were arrested, and the burglary rate dropped to half normal (about 2 per month). We do not think this was coincidental. It does not appear that his behavior has improved since then.

Please be do not let him off with a slap on the wrist. And we are mindful that he will likely be out after only half of whatever the sentence is due to Hawaii's overcrowded incarceration facilities.

I'm block watch captain for my neighborhood and I corroborate the decrease in thefts after he was apprehended. Josh and Noah Smazik are two others that have long been preying on residents. Slaps on the wrist do not work! Please keep them off the streets!

114 arrests, 62 of which were for felonies 10 convictions 20 pending why has this criminal not been in jail for a long time on all of the previous convictions. What is our criminal justice system doing?

My husband and i have been robbed three times while living here on Kauai. The latest breakin in our home was scary to say the least.

Too much crime in Princeville! Send a strong message to the offenders and put this person away!

Mr. Matsumoto is quite obviously a repeat offender. Common sense would indicate that he is unrepentant and is likely to commit further crimes. As law-abiding citizens, we should be protected by stiff sentences administered by the criminal justice system.

It is time to end this individual's opportunity to "terrorize" the law abiding citizens of Kauai. It is time to alleviate the financial, emotional, and mental suffering experienced by the community due to this individual's disrespect and blatant disregard for other exemplified through an ongoing litany of lawless actions.
