Street Maintenance - E 43rd Ave & S. Scott St
If you are not happy with the asphalt pavement condition in either lane of S. Scott St and would like it fixed, please add your info to this petition that will be submitted to City Streets dept and the City Council. Among the pavement problems since the Water Department's flood early Feb, 2021, are these:
1. Pavement heaving on radius corner nearest the Rocket Market, namely a 3" tall "lip" between the rolled curb and the damaged asphalt pavement.
2. The above lifted "lip" occurs where the weathered and nearly invisible cross walk is. The "lip' is a tripping hazard as well as an impediment to safe ADA transit across the intersection.
3. Pour compaction of subgrade below asphalt surfacing on the repaired section of S. Scott St. (northbound). This puts both cyclists and motorists on dangerously sharp and bumpy pavement immediately before the 90 degree Westbound turn.

The City Streets department continues to ignore the danger this intersection poses to pedestrians and cyclists. Call your city council representative today and demand they inspect the damage at Scott Street ourselves before someone gets hurt.

I walk here frequently and think the lip is a significant tripping hazard. I am very surprised it hasn’t been fixed yet.
This intersection is dangerous for bicycles due to pavement conditions. I have also seen a motorcycle nearly crash here due to conditions.

Amazing that no one has been hurt rounding the Rocket Market on a bike east/southbound and cutting the corner within a foot of the curb, a very natural thing to do.
