Stornoway was given £7000 to spend on a New Years Bash...what do they go and do? Put it back an hour to 11pm...So we will be the first to celebrate it in Scotland. This is not right no matter what the tradition is. Ferries sail, Planes Fly yet we can't celebrate new year at midnight! This Petition was created to give a voice to those who wish to protest the early ending of the New Year's Celebration. We believe that it is unfair for a small minority to dictate that we will not be able to celebrate at midnight with our families and friends. It also seems rather ironic as Stornoway pubs are usually open until 1am on a Sunday morning. We aren't all christians, Therefore I think it's only right that we should have a voice!
