Residents of Dearborn Heights shouldn't have to be afraid of letting their animals and children in their backyards. Yet they are because of the out of control rat problem in the City. Let the City administration and council know that you are no longer willing to live with this problem and you want a solution Now. This petition is in no way saying that the ordinance department isn't doing a wonderful job they are. What we do need is immediate, action, on this server problem. Ask the administration and council to hire outside Vector control until the City's own ordinance department has certified Vector Control officers.

The administration has acknowledged the volume of this petition and requested a formal meeting to discuss the proposed hiring of outside vector control. I am currently preparing the documentation to present during our session with council members. Expect a summary of their official response shortly after that discussion concludes.

Please take control! Both my vehicles have had damage due to them climbing in the engine and chewing wires! It's gross! Please help!
I have seen at least one huge rat that has dug a hole in the backyard and another under the sandbox. It is almost the size of my dog. I also have two young children that I am frightened for.
I think it's rediculous that I grew up and lived in North Dearborn Heights for 34 yrs and never seen a rat then I move to south Dearborn heights and see one daily. Start fining people who don't maintain their lawns and fix the problem .
I live on Ecorse Creek, and I can see them going in/out living behind the cement 'retaining wall' that was placed across the creek of my property. Just wait till it rains and they all scatter, I don't even fill bird feeders anymore because it would be all rats on the ground below. Very sad... I live in a clean well maintained home I shouldn't have this.
I think if we had the garbage cans like Dearborn we would stop this problem. It's disquesting and rats carry diseases that are harmful to humans and animals
Aslo, Enforce the law of no feeding the birds, squirrels, and stray cats.
I see dead rats and opossums all the time in the streets.I live by Dartmouth and Pelham.

Please do something about the rat problem in south Dearborn heights. The ecorce creek runs right across the street from our home and we see them all times of day they come across to the houses around here. They are nasty and carry disease. We do our part in the fight against them but it's just not enough. Please help with this problem
