South Lanarkshire Council have made budget decisions to end free bus services to children living within a 3 mile radius of the local secondary schools, this move will resort to many children in deprived families having to walk almost an hour to get to school. Having children set off to walk to school in the dark during winter months and in poor weather conditions could increase truancy and will lead to these children turning up to school tired and in wet clothing. We as a community implore ministers and South Lanarkshire to reconsider these cuts to a fundamental services and to consider the impact this will have on the wider community
