PETITION TO BRISBANE CITY COUNCIL
Petition background summary: Concerned Citizens of Brisbane CA request a City Council resolution to support efforts to protect us all from jet aircraft noise which has been documented to have increased in both frequency and severity since 2010, and is expected to get worse.
Action petitioned for: We the undersigned residents of Brisbane request that our City Council take a formal position by resolution on minimizing the negative environmental impacts of jet noise on us by:
A) Protect all Brisbane residents equally - favoring none.
B) Require fact based scientific studies to support all proposed changes.
C) Replace/Add noise monitors to collect data for comparison with prior year's samples.
D) Prohibit any Brisbane official or staff from binding the City to any unenforceable FAA agreement.
While I don't expect not to ever hear airplane noise due to our proximity to the SFO, when we moved to Brisbane back in 1990, part of the reason we chose Brisbane was that the airlines could not fly directly over Brisbane (unless for a safety reason), as opposed to other cities close to where we work (SSF). There's no reason airplanes need to fly over Brisbane as part of their standard route.
