The council finally backed down and those fifty teaching positions are off the chopping block. I still remember the fear my own kids felt at the thought of losing their favorite teachers so this news brings me so much relief. We won this together but let us keep a close …
I back the three Highlands and Islands MSPs, Peter Peacock, Rhoda Grant and David Stewart, in opposing Highland Council\'s so-called efficiency savings in Education in the Highlands which could cost the area 50 teachers and the same again in support staff.
Seeing one hundred people put their names behind this effort means the world to me. My own daughter is in one of the classrooms targeted by these cuts and I finally feel like we are forcing the council to pay attention.

My kids have enough trouble getting the help they need as it is. Cutting staff will only make the classes even more chaotic.

The council need to find another way to balance the books. Losing 50 teachers is going to ruin the education kids get in the highlands. stop this now.

Teaching staff are already stretched so thin. How can they expect them to do more with less people.

Absolute madness. The rural schools can't handle these cuts.
