Recently France passed a law prohibitting supermarkets from deliberately spoiling edible food and forcing them to form a partnership with a charity to donate the food to those in need. Companies failing to do so can be fined.

The UK should take a lead from this and we should DEMAND that our government looks into this as a matter of urgency. For good food to be destroyed whilst people are in food poverty is a disgrace. No child should be hungry with this amount of wasted food.
In a country such as the UK that is one of the most unequal in the world and where there is sky high child poverty in many cities supermarket food wastage is simply unacceptable.
