It is unreasonable and unacceptable to increase tuition for students who are currently matriculated at Bank Street College of Education. Tuition increases should only apply to new and incoming graduate students.

We, the student body at Bank Street College of Education (BSC), during a pandemic year where many current students have had reduced or lost income, petition the administrative board of BSC to:

1. Cancel all tuition increases for students matriculated on or before January 1, 2021.

2. Reconsider the criteria in issuing financial aid awards and work-study placements, in light of the absence of opportunities to make additional income this year.

The student body at BSC considers the above demands fair and reasonable. Currently matriculated students have already budgeted for their degree, applied for loans, and secured income to support completion of a degree at the previously published rates. Imposing new costs and fees is unjust.

Applying the new tuition fees to ONLY incoming students allows BSC to increase their revenue from tuition without unecessarily burdening the current student body.
