Stop the $700 Tuition Hike! VCU Finance is proposing a 5.3% increase in tuition, VCU is planning 3% increase on administrator’s salaries; 1,000 administrators already make around $100,000, while VCU adjuncts and part-time employees get starvation wages.

Our demands:

To achieve a student/faculty representative on the Board of Visitors.

Transparency of tuition breakdown.

Fair treatment of adjuncts/ part-time employees of VCU.

A cap on administrators’ salaries making $100,000 or more.

A formal response from President Rao and/or the Board of Visitors.

This Petition is going to President Rao’s office, the Board of Visitors, the Governor’s Office and Virginia’s State Congress.

We are approaching the one hundred signature threshold which serves as our baseline requirement for upcoming meetings with administrators. I need this total reached by the end of the day to ensure our formal demand letter carries the necessary weight when it hits the Board of Visitors desks.

VCU does not get that not everyone that goes here can afford this. I am paying for my own education and I am already over what I can afford. I might have to transfer to another school next year.

The adjunct and part time faculty is a serious issue my favorite professor can't even afford to teach the best class in the world because they refuse to pay her for the extra work of taking on a class since she Jos an adjunct professor and technically works in the deans office

Instead of paying administrators more, they should hire more criminal justice/forensics instructors. When your major courses are taught by 2 working professors and all your classes start after 6:00pm in the evening (if you are lucky enough to register early enough to get in one of them).

I'm all for the cap on administrator salaries. Ditto fair treatment of aduncts (higher wages and benefits). Many full time instructors don't make a lot either compared to other universities. The notion of a 5.3% hike in tuition and a 3% hike in administrator salaries is offensive.

You can't raise tution on students just to pay for all these new buildings y'all keep building that's not our fault. You should be focused on fixing the buildings you already have. No tution raise!

I chose VCU due to its affordability and it's not fair that I'm paying more each year after I started. I don't get a thing for the extra money, just amenities I don't need or use, and more funds dumped into a basketball team, while my debt is sky high.

The teachers are what make vcu great. They deserve to be treated with the respect and compensation that reflects all that they do for students and the university. There would be no VCU without great professors.
