STOP the fencing of Nunthorpe Playing Field. I hope you can assist in this matter. PLEASE READ!! The local playing fields at Nunthorpe, off Guisborough Road have recently been fenced off by the social sports club. This means NO FAMILIES / CHILDREN will be allowed to play on the fields. No access to dog walkers. No access to anybody unless you are part of an sport organised by the club. Some members within the club were against, others were not fully aware of the situation, not to mention the residents of Nunthorpe who have not been consulted on this matter. After the Olympic message of lets get children playing more sport how have they been allowed to carry this out. We do not have many area's left where children can play freely. The fence is in direct contravention of the wishes of Lady Harrison (the benefactor)who left the field to ALL the residents of Nunthorpe, Marton and part of Ormesby NOT a selected few who pay to use the field. I can quote from the original conveyance "The property hereby conveyed shall be held upon trust for playing fields for the use of the inhabitants of the Parishes of Nunthorpe and Marton and that part of the parish of Ormesby within a radius of three quarters of a mile of Nunthorpe Railway Station" . The aim of this petition is to prove how much feeling there is against the fencing off of the field. The Mangement of the Social Club can not take this away for their commercial purposes.
