As concerned citizens of Greatwood, we are opposed to the planned installation of a stoplight at the intersection of Greatwood Parkway and Sansbury Boulevard for the following reasons.
1. A traffic light will increase the speed of traffic through the intersection which would further increase the current speed problems experienced on the Parkway. The increased speed through the intersection would be dangerous for the residents and more specifically children and parents who walk their children as they cross to and from school.
2. Our belief is the inclusion of a traffic light will increase the likelihood of accidents in the intersection due to the natural tendency of drivers to "challenge" yellow lights and run red lights.
3. The inclusion of a traffic light in the interior of the neighborhood will encourage the use of Sansbury and Greatwood Parkway as thoughfares rather than their intended use as neighborhood streets.
4. A traffic light in the interior neighborhood will likely decrease the value of our homes in the neighborhood.

My own kids walk through this intersection every single day and the idea of adding a stoplight terrifies me. We are nearing five hundred signatures and hitting that mark will prove to the city that this community refuses to be ignored. Please get this in front of your neighbors so we can show them how many families stand together to keep these streets safe.

I have been walking the intersection every afternoon to watch the traffic flow and the danger to our kids is even worse than I imagined. I am currently reaching out to local planning board members to demand a formal review of these reckless installation plans.

I watch the kids from our block walk to school every morning and I refuse to let this intersection become a danger zone. We are nearly at one hundred signatures so please blast this link to your neighbors right now to get us over the hump.

This is going to make the traffic so much worse. People already fly down that road way too fast as it is.
My kids walk to school every single day. Seeing a light right there makes me nervous about them crossing.
Total waste of money. Just put a 4 way stop if you have to do something but no lights inside the neighborhood.
This is ridiculous. We moved here for a quiet street and now it's going to be a shortcut for everyone in the city. Leave it alone.
Bad idea. People never stop for yellow lights anyway. They will just speed up and someone is going to get hit.

The Parkway isn't a highway. Stop trying to turn it into one!
