Petition:
We request that the Glenmore Community Association Board of Directors cease and desist with the study, design and implementation of the road closure of Ferndown Lane at Tunbridge Lane.

Backgound:
The Glenmore Community Association Board has recently proposed a study and design of the closure of Ferndown Lane at Tunbridge Lane. This road has been in service for over 20 years and serves other sections of Glenmore. The Board's basis for this closure is a perceived pedestrian safety issue on Darby Rd. East fronted by approximately 24 homes. Several years ago this proposal was denied by the County for safety reasons. It does not appear that the Board has consulted with traffic engineers, conducted traffic studies, traffic counts or accident analysis. Additionally, the Board has not sought input from other residents in sections of Glenmore that would be directly affected by the closure (other than The Scottish Homes Association). The Board has not consulted traffic engineers regarding the safety of re-routing traffic around the closure and the adjacent roads. We urge the Board to stop this action.

This closure is unfair to all of us who live beyond that point. We purchased homes believing we had two exits out of the neighborhood. This closure is dangerous.

We are residents on Paddington around the corner from Turnbridge. The street is very busy and handles a lot of construction traffic. We all need to be mindful of our speed and slow down. We are VERY opposed to this closer and think it it is a very drastic option negatively impacting more residents than it is helping.

Closure of Ferndown is a bad idea. It would relocate a traffic problem from one area to another, while negatively affecting the safety and access of over 100 lot owners on and near Ferndown/Pendower.

Has anyone researched the history on the number of collisions (involving autos) and/or injury accidents (involving autos) inside the Glenmore gates since 2000? And, how many on Darby Rd. East at or near Ferndown? If there are any at all, I suspect they number fewer than the number of people injured by wayward golf balls or injured in falls from horses.

There is overwhelming support for leaving things as they are. This support has been constant for over 10 years. The county went on record, when I was GCA President, as not supporting the closure. By my count, even the SHA does not support this closure.

This photo-shopped picture is very good reality. Like pinching an inflated balloon, closing a road will push the problem to an adjacent area. One of the 24 residents suggested that ripple, lower type of speed bumps used on highways forewarning a change of speed ahead could be a viable option. Those lower profile speed bumps might survive snow-plow damage.

I ditto the response that this is a BIGGER community issue! I will sadly share that we have observed adults and senior citizens be some of the worst offenders of the speed limits in our community! We all share the responsibility to keep Glenmore safe. It is not just an issue in Scottish Homes.

We live on Carroll Creek Road and feel, like it is a speedway most of the time. People fly by and always worry about my dogs even when I am walking them on leashes. I worry when our grandchildren are visiting and they want to ride bicycles in the street. This is only going to get worse as more construction continues up in the new area. I don't see how any one can close any road in Glenmore. I would never expect that but I do wish that the contractors, construction workers, fellow residents and their children would s l o w down throughout Glenmore. Thanks for listening. Just my 2 cents
