Bluewater Lake State Parks Division and EMNRD have a draft proposal out to initiate changes to Bluewater State Park. Among the many improvements, it is proposing to close the Las Tusas (Thoreau side state park) entrance and turn it into a conservation area. Another proposed change is to make Bluewater Lake a "NO WAKE" lake. The consequences of this are that there will be no more skiing, no more pulling kids on a tube, no more personal water craft (jet skis). All the recreation for the lake will be primarily for fishing. Put a stop to the focus being one sided for one interest group only. Protect your rights to use the lake in whichever way you choose and not have limits imposed and your rights taken away. The SPD is looking solely at "close calls" which occur on busy holiday weekends and the solution is to get rid of all people who make a wake instead of focusing on law enforcing. They are giving Bluewater Lake minimal employees to do the work. Directly taken from the proposal "Certain stake holders have suggested restricting vessel speeds on the lake. This issue is of particular concern during times of low water levels when the lake becomes more congested. SPD plans to review boating activity and boater concerns regarding this issue.
- Use this planning document to solicit public comment to determine if vessel speeds on the lake are an issue."

Food for thought:
Who are the "certain stakeholders"?
Why the big increase in boats on the water?
Do other lakes cut off certain types of usage because holidays cause and increase of usage?

Bluewater Lake has been the way it was for many, many years. Our families have always enjoyed the lake whether it had been for camping and playing on the water to fishing. Muskie arrived in Bluewater Lake around 2003 to fix a goldfish problem. Problem is primarily fixed. Now "certain stakeholders" want the lake turned into a wakeless area. Now to enjoy other means of recreation you would have to travel all the way to Navajo Lake or go all the way to Elephant Butte Lake, not your lake.

PLEASE SIGN this petition and pass it along to ALL YOUR FRIENDS who have ever enjoyed boating, fishing, skiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, tubing, or a simple cruise on Bluewater Lake!! The public comment period is ONLY UNTIL JUNE 19th, 2014.

Voice your objection to this proposal. Keep Bluewater Lake the lake you have enjoyed for years as it is. Majority of people can agree Improvements are welcomed. I do think the amount of people who grew up using Bluewater Lake outnumber the amount of people who want the lake as a sole tool for making money for themselves. The intent of this proposal is to keep the lake for all recreation and to keep the Las Tusas side of the lake open to the public.
