We love our beautiful green neighborhood of Blue Bell Hill but reckless and illegal speeding in our quiet community is both a danger and a blight. We call on our elected leaders and law enforcement to finally take action to stop the speeding. On a daily basis, cars, trucks, city vehicles, and SEPTA , LUCY and school buses regularly disregard the 30 mph speed limit on Walnut Lane and Wissahickon Avenue at dangerous speeds, illegally passing, ignoring red lights, and disrespecting our neighborhood without consequence.
These streets are home to hundreds of seniors, children and families, and are wholly residential. They are also major bike commuter and recreation roads regularly used by cyclists. Our homes have been damaged by cars out of control, our cars parked at our sidewalks have been totaled, and our lives are often in danger when simply crossing the street to our parks or to get to the bus or train, including many seniors who rely on public transportation each day. This is our neighborhood, not a speedway. Despite many complaints to and requests of elected officials and law enforcement to take action, nothing has stopped the speeding. It's time for action.

I have finalized the draft of a formal letter detailing these repeated traffic violations to the precinct commander and local district office. This document highlights the specific pattern of illegal passing and red light running identified by residents. I am currently coordinating a time for our delegation to formally present these findings to city planning staff.

The round-about redesign for the Walnut Lane Bridge is supposed to help in controlling speeding. But with the new paving on Walnut La. the stretch between Wayne Ave. and the round-about, especially Wissahickon and the round-about has constant speeding as noted in the petition. When will it be enforced?
two animals killed from speeders, totally unsafe for kids and others crossing from the park across from naomi street. speed needs to come down, speed bumps need to go up, this has been clear for years. Tony Boris 622 W. Naomi Street
I see people driving upwards of 50 mph on a daily basis on Walnut Lane between the Walnut Lane Bridge and the Tuplehocken train station. There are also frequent accidents (monthly) and even folks passing school buses with the flashing red "STOP" lights on! Is the answer rumble strips...better policing...new stop signs?
The repaving and re-striping of Walnut lane has made a slight improvement, but there is still speeding ! Glad to see that Septa was included in your post. I would still like to see the speed limit lowered to 25 mph and rumble strips put in. The odds of a traffic lights or stop signs I know are pushing it.
If the city can place speed deterring humps on W. Queen La. between Fox St. and Henry Ave, a lesser traveled residential street, why can't it place them in strategic positions on Walnut La. betwee Johnson St. and Daniel St.?
I agree that speed pillows on Cliveden St. between Park Line & Wissahickon would be most effective in getting speeders to slow down.
If other neighborhoods (East Falls, Chestnut hill) can use speed pillows, why can't we?

I had a car crash through my fence. If anyone had been outside they would have been seriously injured or killed.
