Recently, Merrimack, New Hampshire has been found with contaminated water, both for it's public water and some private wells. This contaminate has come from Saint Gobain, performance plastics - known as PFOA. It is an unnatural contaminant. This very same company has contaminated the water in New York and in Vermont. It is extremely concerning, considering the long term effects of this contaminate are unknown, but have been cited to be linked to cancers, kidney issues and birth defects.

Merrimack resident. Awfully disappointed. Let's see some of their higher ups take pay cuts and use their profits to do the right thing and install filters at the main sources.

While we wait for the establishment of " acceptable limits " will some , or any, of us or our children or our childrens children develop a life threatening disease as a result of drinking contaminated water or being exposed to ground contamination ? The question is unanswerable, but the possibility is real . Let us install the best filtration system available today and do all that is possible to eliminate this threat to all of us . We can make changes later ,but we need action now .

Town officials need to be reminded that the definition of an "emerging contaminant" is a chemical that is perceived as a potential or real threat to human health or the environment. PFOA is a "Confirmed Animal Carcinogen" that accumulates in your body with continued exposure, according to the EPA and other public health experts. Anyone denying this is politicking for a special interest. A carcinogen should not exist at any level in municipal water. It is dismissive and irresponsible for administrators to tell their town that there is no need to worry about the water as long as the contaminant measures below 100 parts per trillion. If they really believed the probable health risks did not exist, they would not have required a phase-out of the chemical in their contract with Saint Gobain. Many families in Merrimack cannot afford to buy water for drinking and cooking. At the very least, Saint Gobain should supply every home with an activated carbon filtration faucet attachment which has been tested to effectively remove PFOS and PFOA while we await an adaquate filtration system at the municipal source.

A water filtration system should be installed in our water supply ASAP. We don't need to wait for test results, it needs to be done today

A water filtration system for the town water supply should be installed ASAP, regardless of the EPA "safe" limit.
