The city council officially rejected the road connector proposal and our streets will remain quiet. I am incredibly relieved that my kids can keep playing outside without us worrying about cut through traffic. Thank you for protecting our home and our peace of mind.

RE: Proposed public road connection from Lakestone Parkway to South Cherokee Lane.
As homeowners in Lakestone Subdivision, we believe that this proposal to use our quiet residential "neighborhood" street as a connector between South Cherokee Lane and Highway 92 will directly and negatively impact our neighborhood in a number of ways including the safety of our children, our financial investment in this community and our quiet peaceful enjoyment of our homes.
If passed this road would no doubt bring a tremendous increase in traffic from cars "cutting through" our neighborhood rather than traveling one of two already existing roads that connect Highway 92 to Jamerson Road.
The safety of our community is of great concern. We are an active community including numerous small children, bikers, joggers, dog walkers etc., who would now be at greater risk of pedestrian accidents from speeding cars. We would like to preserve our atmosphere of a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where children can play tag, ride bikes and scooters, without fear of being hit by a speeding car using our neighborhood as a short cut.
The soundness of our financial investment in this community is equally important. This connector, if approved, would detrimentally impact the value of the homes in our neighborhood. Numerous studies have shown that traffic heavy streets adversely impact home values. Lakestone Parkway comprises a large portion of our neighborhood. Turning it into a public access road would be a very big turn off for future potential home buyers. A decrease in the desirability of those homes would no doubt result in declining home values throughout our entire neighborhood. We as home buyers, purchased homes in a quiet "private" neighborhood not on a busy public thru street. We would like to retain that character in our community.
Additionally we feel the creation of this through way would reduce the overall quiet enjoyment of our neighborhood and diminish our community as a whole. An increase in traffic would also lead to a rise in the occurrence of crime such as vandalism and theft in our community. Furthermore, this auxiliary traffic would create additional noise, unwanted road wear and tear, and an increase in trash and littering.
Regardless of the intent, the reality of this proposal is that it will create unwanted accessibility and significantly increase the amount of traffic through our neighborhood. These are just some of our concerns with the proposed public road connection from Lakestone Parkway to South Cherokee Lane. As such, we strongly OPPOSE the approval of this through street in our neighborhood.

One of the reasons we bought here is because of the serenity and slower pace compared to many other newer places in Woodstock. We have a two year old daughter that loves to walk and play outside and I know many others do as well. Let's keep it that way.
This is a community of young families. A public road through Lakestone Parkway would put hundreds of young children at risk who are now peacefully playing along the streets and in their drive ways all along that road. Putting these kids in danger would be unconscionable.
I'm directly across the road from this project and I am strongly against this project!! We currently meet the city with the two existing entrances. There absolutely zero benefit to our community. This only benefits the proposal by the builder and the ease of access to 92 by way of lakestone!!! Opposed 100%
If a second entrance is inevitable to serve the needs of a new development, then the new developer needs to pay for a mutually-agreeable, limited access gated entrance solution in order to preserve and protect our neighborhood's safety, peace and home values.
Many residents park their cars on the street and there are a significant amount of young kids in this neighborhood. Our neighborhood fills up and elementary school bus. Adding additional traffic to this road with cars serving as blind spots will be dangerous.
We bought our home in Lakestone with the understanding it would be a private neighborhood. There was no mention of a public access road going through the development. If this was an option, it should have been part of the negotiation/buying process from day one. Now that the Builder has sold all the homes and a public connector is now being proposed, resembles a 'bait and switch' move; b/c the proposed access will severely jeopardize the peacefulness, safety, and resale value of our homes. We say ‘NO…NEVER’ to an access road. ***If the City wanted such a connector, they should have made it KNOWN to all of us, BEFORE we decided to make Lakestone and Woodstock our home. The City should have been transparent about it’s intentions so the Homeowners would have known about this plan years ago. ***We VEHEMENTLY OPPOSE the proposal of a public road cutting through our neighborhood, and we are willing to join the other residents to do whatever is necessary to prevent such a road from destroying our quality of life and our financial investment: finances which support this City. If the City of Woodstock wishes to keep their residents happy and serve the best interests of the Lakestone Homeowners as they are entrusted to do, then the City should quash the proposal for this access street immediately; as it goes against the ardent wishes of Lakestone Taxpayers, pursuing such a thoroughfare will only create discontented Constituents. In addition, the road will inevitably destroy that which makes Lakestone a quality and desirable neighborhood which attracts new people to reside in Woodstock. It will also create a liability issue for the Residents should anyone be injured while traveling the road on which their properties are located. Would have had second thoughts about purchasing within this community had a know a road would be placed in the back of the community. This road decreases safety & privacy as well as increaes car traffic on a road children frequent, traffic by people who are not residents of our community.
