Light the Night is a festival coming to Austin that has its participants launch lanterns into the sky. Those lanterns have a fuel source, metal frame, and paper skin. Most of those lanterns will end up in our rivers and lakes and polute them for years. This petition is to have the city revoke any permit that the festival organizers may have pulled to be allowed to put this event on. We need to tell them that Austin is not about waste and politician

This seems very wasteful. One moment of pretty lights is not worth the pollution.

This is stupid. How is it not littering?
What has happened to this city to where we are so wasteful.
Please no...where is the awareness in 2016? Anyone can see this is pollution after the pretty lights are over.
So wasteful and so much trash in our rivers.

I can't use a convenient plastic bag for my groceries, provided to me by the store, which I will then take home and reuse, but this festival, which will generate seriously dangerous pollution as well as pose a fire hazard is actually scheduled?! Austin, Texas, you have achieved expert level hypocrisy....congrats.
