Why sign this petition? This petition serves as an objection to the Festive lights street Bash from Concerned Polokwane Residents who are suffering from High Billings , Non-service delivery and experiencing water shortage . The street bash brings no value to the Polokwane residents as it is used as a cash cow for Municipal officials and some politicians who are leading municipality in order to fund their lavish lifestyles for festive season . Hence the same companies and service providers are being utilised annually. Therefore , taxpayers money cannot be used to fund lifestyles of Municipal officials and Politicians in a form of Festive lights Street bash

This petition further urges Polokwane Municipality to redirect its funds for Street Bash to provide sufficient temporary measures for water shortages in Polokwane and fixing of potholes, the Festive lights street bash will benefit the residents of Polokwane with nothing except to get to drink alcohol and go home for waterless taps .

For five years now the Municipality has been peddling lies about Seshego Water Plant which were lied to , that it will bring sufficient mega litres which will put a stop to water shedding but municipality keeps on shifting the blame of lack of water to Lepelle water board . A fact is that the residents are paying services to the Polokwane Municipality their services are oftenly cut for not paying therefore Polokwane Municipality must take full responsibility for shortage of water and stop the blaming game .

Updates

November 27, 2024

The emails I receive about the constant water outages keep reminding me why this fight is necessary even when the silence from the municipality is exhausting. I am still pushing for a response regarding the misuse of these funds because our neighborhoods deserve basic services over a staged party.

November 27, 2024

The momentum behind this petition is proving that people are tired of seeing their funds wasted while the taps run dry. It is exhausting to keep fighting for basic services but seeing this much support reminds me why we cannot let this go.

After attending 2 previous bashes I realized that service delivery, potholes, water and electricity provisions aren't improving. No street lights, poor drainage where storm water drainage is available

We need our Municipality to have effective systems for billing, we expect consistency on our rates. We don't need unaccounted bills and unnecessary/unexplained penalties. Polokwane Municipality must deal with water crisis. They need to prioritize community over themselves

We cannot allow them to misuse the money for fun while people suffer from poor services. We spend almost 3 to 4 weeks without water then after the 5th week water comes out for 2 days. No this is disgusting we've had enough

Show some compassion. The money must go somewhere else. Besides, this ceremony was inherited from the apartheid regime.
