we actually did it and the new rules for trappers are finally law. im still processing the fact that no more dogs have to get hurt out there because we refused to sit back and watch. thank you for staying with this even when it felt like a long shot.

Final supporters
Problem: Lethal Trapping and Snaring in Minnesota is killing dogs.
Solution: The key to protecting dogs from lethal traps is to raise body-grip traps 5’ off the ground, put in boxes that exclude dogs, or set traps underwater. Only non-lethal “cable restraint” snares should be allowed on land to protect dogs.
Tens of thousands of responsible trappers in other states, Canada, and even MN successfully use body grip traps in this way, without affecting harvest and without killing dogs.
Please support a statewide initiative, supported by thousands of concerned dog lovers, to help us protect dogs from the devastating reality of being killed in traps.

I’m a trapper, but, I also know that using body-grip traps on land is a very bad idea. This trap should only be used for water trapping, not on land, it is non-discriminate killer lake the use of poison.
I have the right to safely hunt with my dog and not worry about my dog being caught in a trap. A youth hunter may not be much bigger than a hunting dog and can get caught in a trap also. Protect everyones right to safely walk or hunt in the outdoors. .
One of my dogs was caught in a leg hold trap within sight of the public road we walk daily. I not only support the efforts of this organization, I strongly support requiring traps be placed a certain distance from any public road or trail, and signage indicating the trap is there.
My dog was almost killed in a ground trap today. We were just out for a walk on a beautiful winter day when she went off the road about 20 feet and she yelped. She was gasping for air and by the grace of God my husband got her out. No dog or owner should have to see their dog suffer to death.
The stories I've read about dogs being killed by these scary traps have literally brought me to tears. There's no good reason why we don't have better regulations to protect our furry family members. Wisconsin and Alabama do--I repeat--WISCONSIN AND ALABAMA.

I am a Minnesota resident, I now exclusively grouse hunt in Wisconsin due to their dog safe trapping laws. We on average spend 500$ per trip. I would love to spend that money in Minnesota, but I refuse to risk my dogs lives.
