We, the members of New York City's affordable housing development and construction community, oppose Intro 1169 as this legislation:

- Damages our businesses by unjustly excluding us from work on city assisted projects
-Discounts the existing experience, training and certification of our work force
-Ignores our track record of building high-quality affordable housing for New York City residents
-Does not provide any resources or reasonable timeframe to help us access the required apprenticeship programs

We are committed to fighting this bill to preserve our right to compete to work on New York City's affordable housing projects.

A bill like this seems unfair in our democratic society to mandate such measures for control over this process. Affordable husing should stay affordable and business developers should have the right to hire companies that can provide the best value and services to the end user. This bill would do nothing to help the end user at all.
