Residents of Lakeside, California-Supervisor Anderson wants to put “TEMPORARY “ sleeping cabins at 9897 Riverford Rd. Lakeside, CA 92040, behind the A1 storage facility. This homeless shelter will be located very close to schools, park and single family homes. Children walk and bike to and from schools. Park and the 7-eleven gas station.

This is a BAD location- it is NOT in close proximity to public transportation or near health and mental facilities.

This shelter is not going to alleviate the homelessness problem, it is going to MAKE IT WORSE. This was supposed to be a 2 year shelter, clearly it is going to be PERMANENT, since it has already been extended to 5 years and the shelter is still in the planning stages.

The IDEA that Supervisor Anderson is trying to CONVEY, is that with having a shelter, then the police will be able to remove the homeless, but CLEARLY it is JUST NOT TRUE. All the police can do is tell the homeless to move. They can move across the street or to the next block and that is the end of it. I am sure the homeless will not be a priority for the cops, I’m sure they have more important things to do than to tend the homeless

Please sign the petition and tell Supervisor Anderson and all board members that WE are against this shelter being placed in our community in Lakeside, California.
