The Bradford County Commissioners and Bradford County Planning Commision preliminarily approved a shooting range behind the Bradford County Library. This gun range will be 20 stalls. This shooting range is for law enforcement use only and not open to the public. The plan is to break ground on this project in the spring of 2019. We do not believe building a firing range behind a library, correctional facility, and near a county nursing home is a suitable or viable plan. If you agree please join us and sign the petition to let the Bradford County Commissioners and Bradford County Planning Commision know that you do not want a shooting range built behind a library.

The emails I get from the county offices remain dismissive and cold. I am exhausted by the constant need to explain why a firing range does not belong next to a public library. We keep pushing forward because the alternative is simply letting them move ahead.

Reaching this level of support shows that people are finally waking up to the absurdity of placing a firing range next to our library and nursing home. I am exhausted by the constant uphill battle against these officials but seeing your commitment makes me refuse to back down.

The sound would be disruptive and possibly traumatic for young children, those with intellectual disabilities, and for individuals suffering from PTSD.
How will the people at the library know if there is an active shooter threat or just people practicing with tactical weapons outside?
The children’s area in the library has a window and a door with a beautiful view of the land behind the library. A shooting range isn’t something I’d prefer my children see when they visit the library.
All of the reasons I've read raise concern. The biggest for me would be the Alzheimer's/ dementia patients living at the Bradford County Manor. I worked with those patients and something like ongoing gunfire could cause so many issues. Not only for the patients, but the staff as well.
Towanda Borough has a range on Bridge St. hill for cops, no reason the County can't share that one. Cheaper and far more practical than building one at the County library. And did I say cheaper too?
Of all the land the county and state own there has to be a more suitable place than behind the library.
I support a range of different location. The proposed location would not be beneficial to any neighboring facilities.

No one would build a library or nursing home next to a 20 lane shooting range. Why build a shooting range next to them? Law enforcement should have a place to practice. No question. The question is where is the PROPER place for such a facility? Common sense please!
