Over the last six months there has been a significant increase in crime in Thurmaston as residents we need to do something about so that we feel safe in our area and safe in our homes.
This petition is to call upon Charnwood Borough a Council and our MP to do something about to improve and increase security:
- Street lights on during the night
- More police patrol throughout the day and night
- Monitored CCTV on main streets like Highway Road, Colby Drive and Humberstone Road.
- Police to educate residents on how they can safeguard their house so they feels.
-Stop groups of youths congregating on street corners or particular areas.

I was walking down Colby Drive yesterday and honestly it just feels so dark with those street lights out again which makes the whole neighborhood feel kind of uneasy. It is exhausting trying to get the council to acknowledge that we are just tired of worrying about our front doors every single night when we try to sleep.

I really thought this might just fizzle out but seeing how many people actually care about these streets makes me feel like we might actually get someone to listen for once. It is honestly overwhelming to see so many names pop up when I check my phone and now I just want to make sure the council cannot ignore us anymore even though they probably really want to.

Due to high crime in the area I had to install cctv cameras and a house alarm all in the space of 6 months. I have living here for some time now and only recently it has gone worse. It's time to take action
Think we have a mini crime wave. Neighbours van was broken into and tools stolen. 12 58 in the morning. If the street light had been on most probably wouldn't have happened. My cctv caught them but night vision not good at that distance without street lighting.

Something needs to Happen, not nice to be living In this area, do something about it
More police patrols and harsher consequences for crimes
Lots of unfamiliar characters in the area. Lots of door to doors sales people going round. We need to feel safe enough to challenge them.

Desperately need police presence outside the working men's club at a weekend to stop the frequent drink drivers, fights and screaming in the street. This is a residential area - it is not fair!!!
