November 29, 2011 Toronto's City Council will be voting on the “Use of Streets and Sidewalks” Bylaw (Municipal Code Chapter 743). 'Camping or dwelling in a street prohibited unless approved by the General Manager.' Directly affected will be the homeless population in the city. If found sleeping on the street, they will be violating the proposed law. One of the reasons for the new bylaws is to have "beautiful aesthetics for others who walk on the city's sidewalks" Being homeless and and sleeping on the street as a result, should not be considered a crime.
