The skills you learn as a St John Ambulance Australia cadet, are skills for life.
The cadet program was first introduced to Canberra in 1960, and has been going strong ever since, until the recent year of 2013.
Through the duration of 2013 the cadet program was on a steady decline as a result of the adult members of the organisation withdrawing their support, and a lack of funding. At the beginning of 2014, the cadet program was suspended once again.
In signing and sharing this petition, you will help voice the opinions of those within the capital of Australia, who wish for a cadet program for the betterment of the community and their development into participating members of the adult work force and community.
Give the tens of thousands of children and teenagers within the capital of Australia the opportunity to be apart of something more. Give them the opportunity to be apart of St John Ambulance Australia's Cadet Program.

I have spent this week contacting local members of the Legislative Assembly to explain why this program remains vital for our youth. Call your local representative today and tell them that we demand the full restoration of the St John Ambulance Cadet Program.

Being an adult member of stjohn and a former cadet in NSW I have had the privilege of seeing all sides I was also a member of Canberra division. Cadets are our future within st john.
A great organisation. I would not be where I am today in my career if it wasn't for St. John cadets. It would be a huge disappointment and shame to see this organisation go.
My daughter is a team member of St John and the skills they learn are extremely importantly. I was in a gas explosion last year and my daughter was a first responder to this incident.
You can't do this to Australia's young future leaders, I'm a cadet corporal in New Zealand and our ex cadets took huge leading roles in the Christchurch earthquakes a few years ago, this help future leaders and in nz it is a huge part of my life as it is for young people all over the world
cadets of today are the st john leaders of tomorrow, just look at our team of chief staff, the majority were cadets once, so were so many state and region staff in every state. Cadet programs teach more than just first aid, they teach skills for life!

Youth development is a crucial part of any ambulance service. I myself came from a background of cadets, and am now a paramedic. That fundamental start to my career from being involved in youth was crucial to my development as a young professional, and as a functioning member of society.
