The safety of young Australians is of vital importance. Nowadays more than ever, young Australians have independence and freedom. Many students choose to take public transport, and it is the duty of the government to ensure that students using public transport are safe. As recently as a month ago, a girl was almost abducted at South Turramurra, just a few suburbs away from the electorate of Davidson. This petition proposes that there be one guard from 5-10pm at each railway station- to ensure that students and young Australian catching public transport are safe and prevent further abductions.

The emails I receive from concerned families keep coming in and they remind me why this work is necessary. I have been spending my nights tracking records of recent incidents so we can prove exactly why these guards are required for our safety. It is exhausting to navigate this bureaucracy alone but I am not walking away from this.

YES. Seriously, why is this not already a thing???
Too many creeps hanging around the platforms at night. Kids should be able to get home without being followed.
Better safe than sorry. The cost of a guard is nothing compared to a childs life.
I used to catch the train home from late shifts and it is genuinely scary. One guard would make a huge difference for everyone.
My daughter takes this train every day after tutoring. Im constantly worried sick until she walks through the door. Please do this.

About time someone did something about this. My son is 15 and I hate him being out after dark.
