WHEREAS, Marlene Brown has been the Vice Principal of the Southard Elementary School since 2004, and WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown has developed a rapport with the Southard Elementary School students during this time, and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is scheduled to approve the transfer of Andrew Smith, Principal of the Southard Elementary School, to the position of Principal of the Aldrich Elementary School, and WHEREAS, the Board of Education is scheduled to approve the transfer of Albert Bohrer, Principal of the Aldrich Elementary School, to the position of Vice Principal of the Tauton Elementary School, and WHEREAS, the position of Vice Principal of the Aldrich Elementary School has remained vacant since the resignation earlier this year of Mrs. Lisa Goldey, and WHEREAS, the majority of the Southard Elementary School students are being relocated to the Aldrich elementary School, and WHEREAS, a small number of the Southard Elementary School population is being transferred to the Ardena Elementary School, and WHEREAS, the Board of Education has stated that it is attempting to cause as little disruption to the Southard Elementary School students as possible, as well as other students throughout the district, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the majority of the Southard Elementary School students to have continuity in their Principal, Mr. Smith, and Vice Principal, Mrs. Brown, and WHEREAS, Mary Jurlina, has been the Vice Principal of the Ardena Elementary School for 10 years, and WHEREAS, Mrs. Jurlina is abundantly capable of meeting the needs of the current Ardena Elementary School students as well as the incoming Southard and Griebling Elementary School students. NOW THEREFORE, we, the undersigned residents of the Township of Howell, petition the Howell Township Board of Education, in the best interests of the children of this district, to assign Marlene Brown to the position of Vice Principal of the Aldrich Elementary School effective with the 2009-2010 school year and to keep Mary Jurlina in her present assignment as Vice Principal of the Ardena Elementary School.
