We the undersigned Citizens of Stockton Borough, Parents of Students, and Interested Stakeholders do hereby Respectfully Petition the Board of Education of the South Hunterdon Regional School District to consider the following proposal:
In order to ensure the smooth transition and inclusion of the Stockton Borough Elementary School into the Regional School District and to further ensure the School’s successful mission to educate the Students of Stockton Borough Elementary School in a thorough and efficient manner, now and in the future, to provide a safe and welcoming educational environment for the students, to provide effective leadership of the School’s teaching and support staff, and to provide the citizens of Stockton a conduit of communication to the Regional School Superintendent, we propose that a full-time, onsite non-instructional Certified Supervisor or Principal be assigned to the Stockton School. We believe that the presence of such a person at the School during the school day is necessary for the safe and effective functioning of the School particularly in the upcoming school years while the District undergoes transition.
We also Petition the Board to pass a resolution in support of the above Proposal before the new District is formed on July 1, 2014.

I was just checking the list of names and I am honestly floored by how many people in Stockton feel exactly the way I do about needing that onsite principal. It is wild to see this momentum building up so quickly when just a few weeks ago I was worried that nobody else would see the transition risks I see. I might actually be able to get someone from the Board to listen if this energy keeps up because they cannot ignore us forever.

My daughter goes there and I am worried about this transition. A full time principal is basic common sense for a school to function right.
These kids need someone on site full time. You cant run a school without leadership and expect good results. Get it done before july.
I am a Stockton school parent and I believe it crucial for the Stockton School to have a full time Principal or leadership position on site. This is very important for our school at different levels: 1) Educationally, our children have benefited immensely from having a strong present non-teaching position at our school and they would suffer if such a position is not existing in the same full time and full dedication that they need and benefit from; 2) In practical terms our school being very small does not have a plethora of onsite staff to deal with the many issues that arise on a day to day basis; 3) For the entire community and considering the parents and other Stockton residents are very engaged with our school, we need a clear leader position to which we can go to with all concerns and questions during the transition period, this person should be full time on site and hands on. For the three reasons above I believe a Principal exclusively dedicated to the Stockton School is crucial at least for the next few school years, maybe even as a permanent position - that could be evaluated after the School District is completely transitioned and all is running smoothly.
