The purpose of this petition is to help honorably discharged veterans to receive preference years and points when it comes to promotions for State of Illinois jobs. Their years of serving our country should be applied not only to being hired by the State of Illinois but for promotion as well.
For the purpose of promotion, veterans shall be able to receive 5 preference years seniority when being considered for all State of Illinois promotions. Any Veteran eligible under the below act that can prove they served while in combat shall receive an additional 2 years seniority on top of the initial 5 years. This shall include all veterans eligible under the Veterans Preference Act of Illinois.
Also veterans shall be awarded 5 preference points for any State of Illinois Routan interview completed. This would allow those service members to promote within the State of Illinois and place qualified veterans in leadership roles as they were while serving in the United States Military.
