Please sign this petition for United States Veterans suffering from PTSD and TBI diagnosed and undiagnosed. PTSD and TBI are killing and /or completely debilitating our young veterans. The Department of Defense needs to address this issue BEFORE the veterans have completed their time in service and the Veteran's Administration needs to do a better job of helping them. No Veteran should leave the military without a one year plan for re-entry to the civilian world. This plan should include (1) a flexible job (to allow for appointments or sometimes just bad days after sleepless nights). (2) Life Counseling (3) Career/School Counseling) (4) a respected figure of authority to mentor. A certain percentage of civil and government jobs should be set aside for veterans only. Every city in the United States should be hiring Veterans and the Government should subsidize their budgets so they can afford the expense. The United States of America owes these Veterans everything. They need to come up with a plan that will keep these young people from becoming the often helpless, often homeless, often suicidal veterans that the Vietnam war created. Please join me in this petition that will be sent to every local and national elected official in the United States.

the transition period is a joke. they need real support not just a pamphlet and a pat on the back. my son deserves better than this.
spent 4 years in the army and when i came home the job market was a nightmare. nobody wants to hire a guy with a combat patch they just see ptsd and walk away.
My brother got back from the sandbox and he barely leaves his room. The va just keeps throwing pills at him that make him worse. This has to stop.
Fix the VA. Now.
we treat our heroes like garbage the second they turn in their gear. it makes me sick to my stomach seeing guys i grew up with begging on street corners.

We train them to kill, we train them to take freezing cold shivers and turn it to anger so they are on edge and ready in a heartbeat to do what they need to do. Then we send them home and do not train them how to turn that need to right all wrongs and suddenly being cut off on the road is too much to take, or the hyperalertness necessary (at least in their minds) to keep a home safe. PLEASE retrain our military men/women to reenter society.
