Pepperell High School is the only school in the Floyd County school system without a boys and/or girls soccer program. Pepperell Middle School started a soccer program in 2010 with the understanding that the program would be filtered into the high school within two years. However, the program was not slated to begin this academic year, and the most recent information obtained from PHS administration indicated that PHS is not currently planning to start a soccer program next year either. There are plenty of athletes available to play both boys and girls soccer at the high school level without impacting the other established sports, and the middle school soccer program is ripe with student athletes who deserve the opportunity to continue competing in soccer at the high school level. If you support the proposal to start a boys and girls soccer program at Pepperell High School during the 2012-13 school year, please sign this petition! The petition will be delivered to Phil Ray, principal of PHS, and Jeff Shifflett, athletics director at PHS.
I have been hearing from so many former middle school players who feel their hard work is being ignored by the administration. Seeing these talented athletes lose their chance to compete because of a broken promise is exactly why I started this fight.

The momentum behind this push for a soccer program hit a new level today. Seeing this level of backing from our community makes me feel like my kids might finally get the chance they deserve to play for their school.

it makes no sense to have a middle school program just for them to have nowhere to go once they move up. waste of time and talent.
