To: Board of Education of the Corinth Central School District
We the undersigned parents, volunteers, citizens and registered voters of the town and village of Corinth, respectfully request the consideration of the addition of a girls Modified soccer team to the available athletic programs at Corinth Central School.
Over the past 15 years, many girls from our community have participated in the Corinth Youth Soccer program sponsored by the Town of Corinth. Over the past 5 years alone we have seen the number of girls in the program increase from 48 in 2010 to 117 in 2014. Once these athletes reach seventh grade, their options to participate in fall female athletics are limited. The requirements needed to allow them to participate on the available boys teams also limit or discouragemany girls who wish to engage in healthier lifestyles that athletic programs offer. A Modified girls soccer program would not cost the school district a significant amount of capital or operational dollars, but instead would offer our school districts young women a chance to improve their health through exercise, their strength of spirit through competition and their sense of pride knowing that their school and community stand behind them. Please consider this petition on behalf of the many parents and community members who see the addition of an athletic program like this as a significant benefit to the health, growth and spirit of our young women.
Sincerely,
The parents, volunteers, citizens and registered voters of the town and village of Corinth
It is important for our community to allow girls the chance to continue their interest in soccer.

How this doesn't fall under discrimination already is beyond me!There should be no question on there right to have a chance to play without a special physical test!We are not in the early 19th century..another example of how far we haven't advanced on women's rights in this country! We are better then this and so is our school administration, shouldn't need a petition to do the RIGHT THING!!

Girls should not have to take a physical fitness test to join a boys soccer team!! Do boys have to take a physical fitness test to cheer?

Girls shouldn't have to play soccer with boys! This should definitely be an option for them and not take obtaining a petition to implement.

My daughter has been in the youth program since 1st grade. But I know she is one that will be intimidated to tryout for the boys team. I think the numbers show there is interest!
