The local council has confirmed that funding for school crossing patrols will remain in place to protect students at Rykneld. This result proves that our community values the safety of our children above all else. We will stay observant to ensure these crossings remain staffed as promised.
I have heard that we could lose Claire the crossing lady outside Rykneld school on Branston Road and all the other Lollypoppers by December due to funding problems and we have a pelican crossing. This raises many safety issues. Your help is needed before we lose Claire and all the other or a life. Please do the 3S's (Sign, Share and Support)
This is one dangerous crossing that needs saving my children go to Rykneld primary and even with the crossing lady there drivers don't always slow down and many times there is always a near miss.
People race round from a38 side into branston like its a racetrack. If this ends there will be a fatality guaranteed

Claire is a valuable part of our community and we don't want to lose her. Young children and an unmanned crossing is an accident waiting to happen and is total ludicrous. Do we have to lose a life to make people listen? Keep our crossing as it is...SAFE!

Claire fulfills a role that contributes to the safety of our children going and coming from school. This is essential for the welfare of our children. This position should be provided by the council via our council tax payments and not privatised.

This is the most dangerous crossing in Staffordshire, and with an increase in lorries and site traffic increasing due to the new houses and shops being built, or will only get busier. If this crossing patrol is lost it is inevitable that children's lives will be at risk.

Why take an infant/junior school crossing lady when the high school has a pelican crossing too. Rykneld is on a corner more hazardous and the crossing attendant adds safety and reassurance to the children and there safety. Disgusting if this is taken away!!!

Utter stupidity to get rid of this crossing. I hope the people making this decision can live with their idiotic and badly considered idea when it leads to the death of a child.

Due to where the school is situated near such a busy road it's so important that children are crossed safely
