I have launched a public petition with regard to MHDC adoption of allowance increases.
The intended initial target number of signatures on the petition is 750, this would trigger a debate at Full Council;whilst this is my initial target, however, I will keep going until MHDC elections in May 2015 regardless of any rethink, voters need to be reminded what happens when absolute power corrupts decisions.
Petition wording:
"Ideclare my objection and opposition to the newly adopted allowances at MHDC and call upon Councillors to(1)rethink the decision (2) publicly declare that if the decision is not reversed, Councillors will donate their allowance increase to named charities."

Council Tax just increased and swingeing reductions in public services throughout the District whilst Councillors award themselves a healthy allowance increase. When the same old faces are re-elected every five years this is what happens. MHDC operates like an autocratic, private club doing what it does best - pleasing itself! Signing this petition and denying them your vote can be the start of something better.
