We, the constituents of Moncton, insist that the grossly unfair and fiscally irresponsible pay increase voted in by the majority of Moncton City Council be stopped from going forward.
It has since come to light that multiple councillors colluded in a way that may have breached the law!
In the weeks following the vote on the increase the council voted to dramatically lower the amount of funds the city gives to charities and other organisations.
At a time when families are suffering, the amount of homeless people and working poor is increasing, it is unconscionable that a group of people working a part time job should be remunerated at such a high salary.
All of the arguments that were put forward by the councillors who voted for the increase are ludicrously flimsy and can be counterpointed with the simplest use of logic.
Please sign this petition to stop our local politicians from continuing to pay themselves more than they deserve at the expense of the constituents they serve.

No raise especially if the city can't afford to plow both sides of sidewalks. My kids shouldn't have to walk into oncoming traffic to get to the bus!
I am disappointed by council. The methods used were unethical, if not illegal and the amount, in one "lump sum" absolutely unreasonable. Even a graduated raise, over the full term of office, would be more palatable.
I having trouble paying my taxes now as I am on a fixed income , with a pay increase for you people the taxes will go up and then I will have to struggle more for money to pay my high taxes .
If you want to increase the salaries for these positions, make them full time positions and wait till after the next election. I'm only asking for honesty.
The new information regarding possible illegal activity by council members surreptitiously colluding with each other to accomplish their immoral goals is also yet another reason why it should be stopped.
As if they dont make enough allready go suck a fart you dont need no pay raise

I feel the raise has come at the cost of other vital services. There has been an uprising in accidents largely due to the roads not being cleared or salted. Plainly obvious snow removal was cut to help fund this.
