This kind of greed has to be rooted out of public life. It must never become acceptable anywhere and certainly not in a civilized society. Another case of "Marking their own Homework". These councillors are supposed to represent their electrorate not themesleves.

District Councillors generally work hard on behalf of the public who elect them. However, they do not always have the 'expertise' some claim to have and it is up to each one of us as members of the electorate to make sure that all Councillors act on our behalf, for our benefits, and not for their own.

Council Tax just increased and swingeing reductions in public services throughout the District whilst Councillors award themselves a healthy allowance increase. When the same old faces are re-elected every five years this is what happens. MHDC operates like an autocratic, private club doing what it does best - pleasing itself! Signing this petition and denying them your vote can be the start of something better.

The manner in which these councillors have acted should not surprise anyone. It is a total disgrace and whatever the outcome of this petition we should ensure they are not re-elected.

"I declare my objection and opposition to the newly adopted allowances at MHDC and call upon Councillors to(1)rethink the decision (2) publicly declare that if the decision is not reversed, Councillors will donate their allowance increase to named charities."

Snouts In Trough would seem to me to be appropriate. As George Orwell wrote in Animal Farm “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

When we have cut backs everywhere and maintaiance at an all time low any money should be spent locally for the good of everyone.

local coucillors who are voted in because they belong to a National Party. It's about time Malvern wakes up and choses people with integrity.

They should be taking a paycut after the fiasco of the SWDP

I object to public money being used in this way.

There is no compulsion to take up the allowance increase. Funny how it has been interpreted that they are somehow obliged to take up the increase.

Self-congratulation is a characteristic of politicians and this lot is no exception. They are no doubt rewarding themselves for the almighty mess they have made of planning - the notorious SWDP.

I am a nurse in the NHS and this year yet again my pay will be frozen with, this would be easier to swallow if we were all truly 'in it together'. It seems to me that once some people get elected into positions of power not only do they seem to try to make life as difficult for the people who put them there, but they also think they are untouchable. Let's hope they get the ménage in the next elections.
