Townhill Park situated in the village of Townhill in Dunfermline is a fantastic place for children to play and socialise, however it sadly doesn’t cater for children older than around P1/P2.
The aim of this petition is to collect signatures from the people in the community and surrounding areas who would like to see a purpose-built skate-park built in Townhill Park.
Skate parks appeal to a broad cross section of users who appreciate the freedom to practice their chosen sport in a purpose built facility, without the restrictions of more traditional team sports. Increasingly skate-parks are seen as integral parts of a local community and the last 10 years have seen an explosion in the number of well-constructed, outdoor concrete facilities across Scotland.
A skate park facility would bring children together and provide an excellent, safe place for kids to play. Due to the increase in popularity with scooting and skating it has brought with it, it’s own code of conduct between children.
They respect, teach, and watch out for each other – these are fundamental characteristics that are being lost in today’s society. A strong factor in these changes in society can be down to an increase in computers and ‘screen time’ for today's kids; Children are becoming insular and solitary.

The local council continues to ignore the desperate need for a skate park while our kids are left with nothing to do. I am sick of the excuses and the total lack of investment in our youth. We are turning up the heat on them until they finally acknowledge the reality of this situation.

seen so many empty parks round here this would keep them off the street and actually doing something active instead of sitting on their phones all day
Although we live in Cowdenbeath my son's friends live in Townhill therefore this would be great for them all.
I stay in Loch St use the park all the time.my kids are older as well really i think this is a great idea for the kids in townhill
my grandson is always asking to go to dunfermline for the skate park. would be brilliant to have one right here in townhill.

Although I do not live in Townhill I have family there who would benefit from a safe purpose built facility.
