We the undersigned: value the contribution of the Community and Voluntary Sector to the provision of services on which we and our communities depend; are deeply concerned that the terms and conditions of employment for many workers in this sector are uneven, and do not afford the same protections that apply to their colleagues in the public sector; believe that inequities between the community and voluntary and public sector, and between workers within the community and voluntary sector itself, are unfair and unsustainable; We therefore endorse the proposal put forward by SIPTU to include a minimum conditions of employment clause in all publicly funded contracts, and pledge our support for a stakeholders forum of workers, employers, governmnet and other public funding bodies through which to resolve this and other issues of concern to the workers in this sector.
