The train services are being restored as we requested. This outcome belongs entirely to the people who spoke up for our station because I honestly never thought we would see this happen.
We the undersigned support the campaign by David Morris MP and Silverdale Parish Council regarding train services to Silverdale Station. In particular;
* increasing the number of trains stopping at Silverdale
* reducing overcrowding by the provision of more modern carriages, especially relevant to Northern Rail
* reversing the reduction of direct services to Manchester.
I truly never imagined that so many people would join this effort to improve our local trains. This progress belongs to all of you who took the time to speak up for our station.

The local bus services have been cut - there is now no direct bus to Kendal, the Silverdale Shuttle has had its working hours curtailed, and the services to Lancaster have been reduced. Surely more trains stopping (which are going through the station anyway) isn't too hard to facilitate.

I regularly commute to Manchester. However the lack of frequency for Silverdale stopping trains and the lack of through trains makes travel time inefficient and so I am forced to use a car.

My daughter relies on the train service to get to and from school. The trains definitely need more carriages as she often has to stand up for the whole journey, which I think is a health and safety issue.

Bring back the direct trains to and from Manchester. All trains should stop at Silverdale. It is very frustrating to find the ideal train to the airport at Manchester, or home from shopping in Lancaster, only to find it doesn't stop at Silverdale.

With the development of Morecambe Bay for tourists and day visitors, this is the time for expanding the service to Silverdale, taking cars off the rural roads and reducing parking needs, not missing out one stop and squashing people into uncomfortable carriages.

It is ridiculous to have to continue to Arnside and take a train back to Silverdale when the train only needs to stop for 2 minutes. The service is needed to visit Leighton Moss, go walking and to visit the village.

More trains to Manchester gives better onward transport connectivity to the village.
