Leatherstocking Gas Company (LGC), a joint venture of Corning Natural Gas Corp. & Mirabito Holdings Inc., is proposing a franchise agreement to the town of Sidney, NY that will essentially lock us into a 50-year contract with fossil fuel. At the last town board public hearing, LGC was asked "Won't this pipeline be an invitation to FRACKING in our area?" Their response was "POSSIBLY". And then admitted they're considering a potential source for the gas NORTHEAST OF THE VILLAGE OF SIDNEY, right below Rt. 88. THAT'S THE TOWN OF SIDNEY- the area they are now urgently seeking to get granted access to!! Is this flippant disregard for the future heath and welfare of Sidney and it's residents going to be allowed, EVEN THOUGH THE MAJORITY DOESN'T WANT IT??? The town board meeting on Sept 8, is the last chance to express your fears, concerns and disapproval about the town handing LGC, a Limited liability Company, "a blank check" for this project, even though they still can't tell us where the pipeline will run OR WHERE THEY ARE GETTING THE GAS FROM...
