I have been made aware of the "deplorable" conditions at our country shelters. This has been shared by local news and other media. It has also been a concern amongst animal rescues, volunteers, and welfare organizations. The county desperately needs a decently run and operated municipal shelter.
my dog had to have repair surgery to fix the spay they did that she didn't even need
Too many have been killed in this dilapidated horror. Community leaders it's done! Time to help those suffering at the mismanaged taxpayer funded site.
I’m tired of everyone bitching and moaning about what’s going on at our shelters ! I’ve been working towards shelter reform since 2018 and shocked at how little interest the community has had about stepping up to the plate ! This isn’t about taking a cat or a dog out into adoption or rescue it’s about sparing the continued neglect and abuse of all the animals that stay behind bars and in cages ! We are so close to getting the Fort Pierce Shelter back into the community but we can’t do it with a handful of people ! We need the shout out from the community ! If we lose this battle I can only blame those that stood back watching the suffering and did nothing but complain and so afraid that maybe they wouldn’t be allowed to pull a dog or cat out ! My conscience is clear I’ve always done what’s right for the animals not for my ego and definitely not for any personal agenda ! Please walk the way you talk ! Again , the animals can’t speak but you can ! Do what is right, support Mike Jones as the new vender for the “New Hope Humane Society “ and lets give these animals a better life under his leadership! People don’t realize that no one has competed in years to challenge this managements failings until now ! Let’s do it !!!
shelter needs a complete overhaul

The HSSLC is in dire need of new leadership. Both at the board level and the director. It can not happen soon enough!!
