The trust has finally conceded and the sale of our land is being reversed. It has been an exhausting road to reach this point but the whenua is safe for our mokopuna. We must remain vigilant to ensure the lessons of this struggle are not forgotten by those in power.

Whatungarongaro he Tangata, Toitū te Whenua - As Man Disappears the Land Remains
The recent sale of Shelly Bay and the secret sale of Waiwhetū School in 2012 highlights that the Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust is not only unwilling but incapable of engaging with us – their members, on matters which relate to our aspirations but more importantly our rights as Taranaki Whānui. Nor have the Trust considered any alternatives.
They sold the birth right of our mokopuna and any opportunity to build homes for our kaumātua and our young families - they have stripped us of our Turangawaewae.
Whenua returned (whether through settlement or purchase) are the things our Tupuna fought for over the past 150 years - this is their legacy to us - their uri. Therefore, any sales, land transfers, land disposals or joint ventures etc. that involves our whenua and the mana of our people must be taken back to our marae and our meeting places for kōrero and decision. This is how our people have always done it, and today in Te Ao Pākehā we just so happen to call this ‘Good Governance’.
As members of Taranaki Whānui, we stand and uphold the identity and values of our Tupuna. Therefore it is only us - the owners - who will make the final decision on any business deal involving our land - not our trustees whom at this time have not been given the authority by the people to risk the loss of our land forever.
Therefore, we - Taranaki Whānui E Tū are seeking your support in signing your full name (you must be a member of PNBST) to this petition, and by doing so you agree that:

Reaching this point has been a long and draining road. Seeing this many people acknowledge the weight of our struggle gives me the strength to keep pushing for the dignity of our people.

Enough. Waiho ngā whenua Māori. He whenua i tuku iho i ngā tūpuna. Kua whakairohia ēnei whenua me te toto o ō tātou tūpuna. Me tiaki tonu tātou ka tika!
As a joint landowner, of pockets of Shelly Bay, I am not opposed to development. What I AM opposed to is being disposed of our land. We are mana whenua of Wgtn. Shelly Bay is our biggest asset. Long term leases are a way forward. Not housing the elite at the expense of the landowners.
True community and iwi consultation needs to be conducted. The views of key stakeholders (iwi) must be taken into consideration before moving forward with final plans. Decisions being made today will shape Wellington for the next 150 years, please consider our future city and how we can sustain its vibrancy! Don't sell for immediate gain but think about allowing Wellington to be a competitive city on a global scale! Think: Sydney, Barcelona, New York, San Fransisco and Shelly Bay! Don't burn bridges now when you will be working together for many years to come.
In the name of our DNA Ngaatiawa Tupuna Pirikawau and his first cousin Te Rangitaake "I will not agree to our bedroom being sold, for this bed belongs to the whole of us. If you give the money secretly, you will get no land for it. you may insist but I will never agree to it." 1859
I vote to non sale of land owned by PNTB. Reverse of recent sale at Shelley Bay and vote of no confidence in current Board of Trustees and Board of Directors.

This sale was already democratically defeated in March. Sneaking this through the back door piece by piece is a dishonest way to serve your members. Not good.
