Petition to the Muriwai Beach Progressive Association Incorporated.

To the President & Executive of the Muriwai Beach Progressive Association (MBPA),

We, the undersigned, ask you to provide the sum of money held in Trust known as the 'Hall Fund' to the Muriwai Lifeguard Service Amenities Trust (MLSAT) so that they can use these funds to complete the community facility known 'The Surf Club at Muriwai'. The 'Hall Fund' was created by local residents in 1971 for the "purposes of contributing towards the future costs of construction of a public hall somewhere on the Domain". The undersigned believe The Surf Club at Muriwai meets the definition of a "public hall" as it is a large public facility that is being used by the community for a wide range of activities. The MBPA's Constitution clearly states that the organisation is there to; "promote, aid, foster, develop & protect the welfare & progress of Muriwai Beach & District" Clearly the MBPA has a duty to support this vital community facility in every way possible as it is of benefit to Muriwai Beach and it's residents and ensuring the payment of the 'Hall Fund" to aid the completion of The Surf Club at Muriwai fulfills this important Objective.

Sponsor

The sponsors are a concerned group of residents of Muriwai, some of whom are members of the MBPA, who feel that the organisation should be directly and financially involved with The Surf Club at Muriwai. It makes no sense to us that The Surf Club is unfinished and requires over $270,000.00 of funding to complete the interior, and the MBPA is sitting on roughly $80,000 of funds that could be used to finish this facility for the benefit of MBPA members and the wider community. Currently the MBPA is the only community organisation not on the users group of the Surf Club. Users of the Surf Club are: Muriwai Lifeguards Muriwai Sports Fishing Club Muriwai Playgroup Maori Bay Boardriders Club Muriwai Art Trail Muriwai Environmental Action Community Trust Muriwai Friends of Film We do not represent these people, this is simply an illustration of how many community groups are involved in the Surf Club.
