I spent the morning reading through the messages you all left and honestly it is just heartbreaking to see how much people wanted to express themselves on those caps. I am still waiting for the principal to call me back but I have been leaving messages every hour because someone needs to explain why they think these blank caps are better than the memories we actually want to celebrate.

Really? If you don't want them to decorate something we bought, reimburse us. Take a minute and think about how ridiculous that is.

I am from Somonauk High School and will be graduating here shortly. I think it's crazy to be part of a district that wants to send you off into the "real world" but doesn't allow freedom of expression. Very inappropriate, don't ya think?

It is tradition and students are proud that they were accepted to their colleges. Let them show their pride by putting their future schools logo on their caps.

As an alumni of SHS (Class of '89) I think this is a harmless act for the kids to do. As long as there is no vulgarity and obscenity why not let them show their individuality and the celebration of their hard work for the past 13 years!? Good luck!!

Harmless and fun tradition that will mean more 10-50 years from now then ANYTHING said during the ceremony speeches.

They allowed a friend of mine to decorate hers in serena with hello kitty on her cap. As long as its appropriate I don't see the issue here.

They paid for it and should be able to express themselves as long as it is not offensive
