Due to the actions of a senior at New Berlin West last year, New Berlin Eisenhower is no longer permitted to obtain an original senior quote in our yearbook. On top of taking away one of the most exciting perks of senior year, it also is completely unfair. We are being punished for the actions of a student that does not attend our school. Furthermore, his quote also had to go through several editors and was approved. What happened at our cross-town rival school should not impact the rights we have at our own school. Senior quotes allow students to leave their trademark for following years to see and read. Our school, as well as New Berlin West seniors now, did not abused this right and DESERVES the chance to have senior quotes in the yearbook.

Seeing this level of engagement confirms that many of us feel the same loss regarding our senior traditions. It is clear that the desire to preserve this small piece of our high school experience extends far beyond my own frustration.

Freedom of Speech for high school seniors shouldn’t be suppressed for an issue that wasn’t their fault.
I can’t even comprehend how stupid the decision to end senior quotes is. It seems like our grade gets cut short from everything cool. Examples being: elmwood elementary school field trip to Madison being cancelled, elmwood 6th grade bowling trip cancelled, and now senior quotes. I hate the mentality of “one person does bad, punish everybody” it is a flawed mentality that does nothing but make people angry. I’ve never seen anything this stupid in my lifetime.
This is so irritating! We seniors of 2018-2019 at both new Berlin Eisenhower and west did nothing wrong so we shouldn’t be punished for this! There was also fault from the editing committee than just the student at west. Plus now that the person has graduated what’s the point in taking the fun and joy away from us!
As a student from West who is also fighting for the same ban on senior quotes, neither school should have to get something taken away just because of a previous students actions. Taking away senior quotes for both schools is taking away part of senior year that students remember forever.
Proof read better this time instead of ruining our children's memories! Bring back their request to have a quote near their senior pics theyve paid so much for!

We all understand that what happened was inappropriate; however, we believe one students actions do not reflect a whole district.
