People including children have already died from open mining shafts and thousands more including tourists are exposed and being injured everywhere in the Goldfields region. This petition is to help create awareness and mount public pressure to once and for all put an end to the death and injuries caused by these redundant mining holes. There are over 10,000 open mining shafts in Western Australia with the majority being in the Goldfields region and alongside gazetted roads with high exposure to residents and tourists in the region. Unbelievably there are 5 open shafts some 500 meters from Menzies school! The government has been well aware of these facts for years and nothing has been done. It is time to put an end to these unnecessary deaths and injuries once and for all. We need your help to make a stand and demand a safe environment for our children, our visitors and ourselves
