Bay Area for a Clean
Environment (BACE)
To All Agencies that regulate the Lehigh Southwest Cement Company, Cupertino, CA:
We the undersigned ask that all current violations of the Lehigh Southwest Cement plant and mining operations be corrected, that as long as the plant operates, new EPA Mercury emissions standards be implemented and directly monitored where emitted into the air via a single stack.
We ask for enforcement of the laws and regulations to protect public and environmental health in this region. We are strongly opposed to any new vested rights and expansion of Lehigh in our densely populated community, including the Lehigh proposal for a new over 200 acre open pit mine/quarry creating additional air, water and soil pollution for decades to come. We ask that you do not approve this new proposal.
More than 630 people have already signed this important petition. It continues to be a very important way to tell our elected officials and the larger community that this area does not support the proposed a new over 200 acre open pit mine/quarry . Your name and other information are secure with us. We won't use them except your name and city as part of the petition itself, and email as part of our email subscriber list. Please indicate if you do not want to be part of the subcriber list by check the box below. Only your name will be visible on the online signature list. Uncheck the box if you do not want your name shown on the online signature list.
We need to hit the 500 signature mark before we present this to the agencies. Post this link on your Facebook feed right now to help us clear this hurdle.

We need to hit one hundred signatures to show the regulators that our neighborhood is watching them. Take ten seconds right now to text your neighbors the link to this petition. We have to keep this momentum going until they hear us.

My kids go to school right down the road from that place. The pollution is bad enough already without expanding it. NO WAY.

I moved here for the clean air and safety. An open pit mine would totally ruin the neighborhood. Please say no to this project.

The cement plant has been a nightmare for years. Keep the community safe. Reject the mining permit.

Cupertino is already congested enough as it is. Adding a massive open pit mine right next to our homes is just asking for health problems. Stop putting profits over people.
