The United States is far behind other countries when it comes to requiring students to learn a second language. Most colleges don't require proficiency and many of the schools from Kindergarten to 12th grade don't have programs at all to teach foreign languages. If they do they are poorly implemented. Our schools need to offer foreign language education early in childhood and have proficiency in that language as a goal. Please sign this petition to show our schools that we want to compete with the world and participate in a multilingual society.
ABOUT TIME. should be mandatory starting in kindergarten honestly.
